Congratulations to our MUMS Academic UIL winners!

Congratulations to our JKH Academic UIL winners!

A small group of QCHS seniors interested in pursuing a trade after graduation recently spent the day at Texas State Technical College. They toured the facility and explored a variety of occupations—including lineman, cybersecurity, diesel mechanics, and electricians—getting a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to prepare for these careers. It was a valuable experience for students considering hands-on, technical career paths.

QCHS seniors recently took part in TAMU-T Preview Day, where they enjoyed a campus tour and met with professors from the academic areas they’re interested in. Students were treated to lunch and received valuable information about admissions, degree programs, scholarships, and financial aid. It was a great day for our seniors to gain valuable information, explore future opportunities and take the next steps toward their college goals!

Congratulations to these Bulldogs on their selection to the All-District Team!

Any Bulldogs planning to try out for the baseball team need to be at this meeting with a parent.

Dear QCISD family,
A QCISD Gifted and Talented program awareness session is scheduled for August 29th at 8:30 A.M. During this session, parents can learn about our GT assessment procedures and services.
Students in grades K-12 may be nominated by a teacher, counselor, parent, or family member; however, a parent or legal guardian must sign the permission to test form before any testing for the GT program can begin. Please contact your student's campus counselor for more detailed information about the program nomination and screening process. The window for nomination and testing opens on September 1.
The Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented Students forms the basis of our GT services and accountability. Queen City Schools utilize the Texas Performance Standards Project for our program format. The GT Handbook can be found at https://www.qcisd.net/page/gifted-and-talented-program
Sincerely,
Shannon Henderson,

A policy change regarding the use of E-Cigarettes and vape pens passed by the 88th Texas Legislature will impact our discipline practices starting with the 23-24 school year.
House Bill 114 (HB 114) was voted into law to address the increasing concerns around e-cigarettes, vaping, marijuana, and THC-related products among our youth. The Bill mandates that any student found in possession of, under the influence of, selling, gifting, or delivering these substances on or within a 300-feet radius of any school premises, will be immediately removed and placed in a Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP). You can access the full version of the Bill here: https://capitol.texas.gov/tlodocs/88R/billtext/pdf/HB00114F.pdf
Please take a moment to discuss the implications of this new law and the new changes to our disciplinary practice with your children. Emphasize the importance of adhering to school policies and laws for their welfare and the betterment of the school community.
Your cooperation and support in ensuring that Queen City ISD remains a safe, healthy, and thriving educational environment for our students is deeply appreciated. If you have any questions or concerns about this new policy, please contact your child’s campus principal.
Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our students and shape a better future for them.
