"School board members volunteer a lot of their time in order to help make our public schools the best they can be for every child," said Rob Barnwell, superintendent of schools. "In today's world of ever-changing technology, along with many other issues that we never had to deal with years ago, our school board members are faced with developing and approving policies and making tough decisions regarding complex educational and social issues that affect the entire community and lives of individual students. They bear responsibility for Queen City ISD's annual budget of over $11 million, nearly 1100 students in grades pre-kindergarten through the 12th grade, its 190 employees, and three campuses. Preparing today's students to be productive citizens and the leaders of tomorrow is a tremendous task. As elected officials, school board members are the voice of our community, serving first and foremost in the best interest of our school children," said Barnwell. "I salute their efforts, and I hope that everyone in our educational community understands their commitment to our young."
