Student Council

Sponsors: Harlene Hamilton & Jonna Sikes

The Student Council is responsible for Red Ribbon Week. This includes educating other students about the dangers of drug and alcohol use and abuse. We do  this by having fun activities for the students to participate in each day as well as handing out literature which informs students of the dangers of drugs. The seventh and eighth graders participate in "Dead Day" which helps emphasize the consequences of drug abuse in a realistic way.

Fundraising activities undertaken during the year were as follows: selling items for Homecoming and Valentine's Day and working for the concession stand during volleyball and basketball season. A highlight of the year was the winter dance sponsored by the Student Council for seventh and eighth graders.

Art Club

MUMS Art Club was formed to allow all 7th and 8th grade students, regardless of whether they are enrolled in art class or not, to participate in art activities outside the regular classroom. Students meet several times throughout the school year. Activities vary from year to year and may include mural painting, banners and artwork for school programs, and other service projects to benefit the school. Each year, students held design a new club t-shirt, deliver student-made Christmas cards to two local nursing homes, and visit an art museum.
